Real Bride Taylor wears Custom Vagabond Bridal

When planning a wedding, every detail matters—none more so than the dress. For Taylor, who works in the wedding industry, the challenge felt even greater. After visiting six boutiques and trying on more dresses than she could recall, she was beginning to feel deflated. Despite having a clear vision of what she wanted, no gown she tried on in-store matched the confidence she sought. That all changed when she was introduced to the possibility of customising a gown at TVC.

Crafting Taylor’s Vision

Taylor envisioned a gown that was distinctly her own, a creation different from the gowns she had captured on her clients. The fact that she and her fiancé, Thomas, were planning a destination wedding in the Swiss Alps added another layer of complexity. The gown had to be both beautiful and practical, reflecting her style while complementing the breathtaking snowy landscape. Full-length sleeves became a non-negotiable, not only for their elegance but also for their functionality in the cooler climate.

Standing at five feet tall, Taylor knew that a voluminous dress would overwhelm her frame, so she opted for a form-fitting silhouette—a choice that went against conventional advice but felt right for her. The simplicity of solid fabric also appealed to her, allowing the stunning location and views to take centre stage on her wedding day.

When it came to the overall design and aesthetic of their special day, Taylor and Thomas aimed for an "elegant but personal and casual" feel. Their micro-wedding needed to be cosy and intimate while still feeling special and elevated. Personal touches like handwritten letters, wood-fired pizzas, and family-style fondue pots for dinner were paired with beautiful flowers, and a classic style gown and tuxedo and a semi-formal dress code. Ultimately creating the perfect blend of casual elegance and reflecting the couple’s love of travel and adventure. The all-white colour palette with hints of light blue and green were not only Taylor’s favourite colours but a harmonious blend with the scenery.

The Consultation

Taylor’s initial consultation at TVC with stylist Jess V was a turning point in her bridal journey. The boutique's intimate and slow-paced atmosphere was a refreshing change from the larger stores she had visited. Taylor appreciated the one-on-one attention, which allowed her to relax and enjoy the process of finding the one.

Ventura was the first gown to catch Taylor’s eye, fitting her desire for sleeves, plain fabric, and a fitted silhouette. However, as she explored further, she found herself torn between elements of two gowns—Ventura and Medusa. Jess V expertly blended the best features of both dresses into one gown, bringing Taylor’s vision to life. The final result was a unique creation that felt entirely her own, though it required a bit of faith as the pieces came together.

Taylor’s Creation

Taylor's gown was a seamless blend of two exquisite Vagabond Bridal designs. The figure-defining skirt from Ventura, with its artful ruching that subtly enhanced the silhouette. This was paired with the most elegant elements from Medusa, including a sophisticated bodice and sleeves, opting to extend them to sit gracefully over her hand. The entire gown was crafted from a luxuriously comfortable stretch crepe, ensuring that every element not only looked stunning but also felt effortless to wear.

Taylor and Thomas' Wedding Day

On their wedding day, Taylor’s gown perfectly complemented the snowy backdrop of the Swiss Alps. The intimate micro-wedding was a harmonious blend of personal and elegant touches. Despite its small size, the wedding felt significant for everyone involved, a testament to the thoughtful details Taylor and Thomas incorporated. The dress even garnered compliments even from those who hadn’t attended the wedding.

Taylor's Tips & Reflection

Reflecting on her journey, Taylor emphasises the importance of giving yourself plenty of time to find the perfect dress. She advises brides to enjoy the process and bring along someone they love to share the experience with. For Taylor, customisation was key to achieving her vision, and she encourages brides to consider this option if something isn’t quite right. The ability to blend different elements into one dress was invaluable in creating a gown that felt entirely her own.
